As a part of the Christmas T-Mobile campaign, we adjusted their unique mobile application. Via this application, you can run your own ski contest. Ivan Trojan as Professor Radim will be your rival. He is the face of the campaign. The better the result is, the more attractive the prizes are. We have also developed a contest data backend. We managed to satisfy thousands of requirements per day thanks to this data backend.
We processed more than 50,000 results per day
We guaranteed the application and backend were available and they worked 24 hours a day
We developed a server infrastructure that could serve 300,000 users and visitors so far
Analysing the application, we had to deal with two crucial things: to make the application working and make the contest attractive for the contestants. We dealt with the application and backend too. The backend analysed the data, processed and provided the results. We could not use any Third Party’s server infrastructure solutions as we had to respect personal data protection principles. The server infrastructure was, therefore, based on our own designed and developed servers, in a client’s data centre. The backend had to be able to work for 300,000 visitors at the same time.
The Christmas Contest application is one of the Czech mobile applications that uses the second screen experience. To enter the contest, contestants have to play a TV spot on TV or any other device and point their mobile phone onto that device. We have developed our own physical model that simulates a ski run. It measures acceleration and provides the contestants with a very attractive contest experience.
The Christmas Contest application has been developed for iOS and Android as well. Developing the data backend, we used the Phalcon framework (because of its high speed). We managed to develop it in 6 weeks only.
The Christmas Contest mobile application is a game for Android and iOS. Contestants participate in a ski run and pit their strength against Ivan Trojan. The game works with a smartphone accelerometer. It stimulates a ski run movement by the physical principles. Contestants aim at staying close to Mr. Professor Radim (Ivan Trojan) who slows down and accelerates in turns.
